Uruguaiana is currently one of the most developed cities in the border region. It has an area of ​​approximately 5,452 km2 and about 136,000 inhabitants. It is limited to the north by Itaqui, to the south by the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, to the east by Alegrete and Quaraí and to the west by the Argentine Republic. It is the biggest gateway for tourists to Rio Grande do Sul; registering thousands of tourists from Chile, Chile, Paraguay and other countries; it has the largest dry port in Latin America, with 80% of national exports crossing the International Bridge and is certainly on its way to solidifying itself as the “Capital of Mercosur”. It has a fundamental representative in the development of livestock and agriculture in the state. In this land, the first liter of oil was distilled, bathed by a privileged pampa, where the tendency is to develop rural tourism, and with a wide hotel network.

Argentine Consulate, Residence named Vila Dolores

Since 1998, the site has housed the headquarters of the Argentine Consulate in Uruguaiana. Vila Dolores is a property from the period of the greatest economic strength on the Rio Grande do Sul border. Since 1991, Villa Dolores has been listed by the municipality's historical and cultural heritage.

An architectural gem of the West Frontier. The richness of materials and details of the Vila Dolores mansion, in French neoclassical style and built in the first decade of the last century, enchants not only the current tenants – the Argentine consular body, but also those who visit the halls during vernissages and cultural events. Crystal chandeliers, natural-themed stained glass windows, a staircase covered in Italian marble and granite, bathrooms with bronze sinks and faucets, a fireplace adorned with hardwood and wooden floors from the last century are some of the architectural secrets of the building.






Luiz Guilherme do Prado Vepo Public Library

Rua Santana Building, 2588 – corner of Rua XV de Novembro – This Residence was built in the Venetian style by the rancher Urbano José Vilela in the second half of the 19th century. In 2207 it was acquired by the City of Uruguaiana, which restored it and turned it into a Public Library. It opened in May 2008.






Cathedral of Sant'Ana

Founded on May 24, 1946. It has beautiful works of art inside, including the image of Our Lady of Santana, patron saint of the city. There is also a Crypt, where bishops Dom Hermeto and Dom Luiz Felipe de Nadal are buried.







Cultural Center Dr. Pedro Marini

Belonged to the Baldomero Barbará family, it was built in 1913 with material imported from Italy.

It has the privilege of having the first elevator and first internal heating in the city inside. Today the Cultural Center works with its Museums, Libraries and Art Workshops.






15th century castle

Replica of European castles, mixing Tudor, Norman and Renaissance styles. Project prepared by an architect from the Ouro Preto MG school. Construction began in 1955 and took 3 years to build. Residence of Dr. Jorge Pouey de Oliveira, was a great expression of love for his wife.






Agustin Justo / Getúlio Vargas International Bridge

This bridge took 5 years to build and was inaugurated in 1947 by the presidents: Eurico Gaspar Dutra (Brazil) and Juan Domingo Perón (Argentina), with the presence of the Argentine first lady Evita Perón. With almost 2000m in length, this is one of the main gateways to our country.







Barao do Rio Branco square

Name given in honor of the great diplomat who conquered important territorial areas that had been taken from the country.







Rubem Berta Airport

It is one of the arrival and departure points for people in Uruguaiana, by air, providing tourists and visitors with airlines every day of the week.






Unipampa

Largest university complex in Uruguaiana. It offers numerous courses such as Physiotherapy, Physical Education, Nutrition, Veterinary Science, Agronomy, both on-site and at a distance, in several poles, having recently created the newest of the courses: Medicine. It attracts students from all over the world, including from other states.








Carnival Out of Season

The most popular Brazilian party gains a privileged date and highlights in Uruguaiana. Every year it takes place outside the traditional date, and its parades are already known throughout Brazil and other countries as well. It is the most prominent event in the municipality. It attracts tourists from all over the country. The samba catwalk is 678 meters long, and is the longest when it comes to street parades of samba schools; in total, 19,440 seats are available to the Uruguayan population and visitors.






Commercial club

Founded by merchant Luiz Betinelli, on August 13, 1893. The building is a replica of the Warsaw Public Library. The mirrors in the Hall of Mirrors are all French, as well as their lamps.
